Spring 2026 Newsletter

From Beaumont to Baton Rouge, the Gulf Coast CCS Alliance has been busy connecting with communities, industry leaders, and the next generation of innovators across the region. In this edition, we’re sharing updates from our growing coalition of supporters, highlights from our recent events, and a look at how CCS is sparking conversations across America’s Energy Coast.

Setting the record straight: The Alliance releases new CCS myth vs. fact one-pager to shed light on common CCS misconceptions

As CCS development grows across the Gulf Coast, so do questions from communities about what the technology means for their health, safety, and economic future. Our one-pager tackles ten of the most frequent concerns—from questions about drinking water and seismic activity to the safety of CO2 pipelines and the permanence of underground storage. State Rep. Darby expresses support for CCS in Texas

The Alliance is proud to welcome a new voice to its growing coalition of supporters. Texas State Representative Drew Darby (District 72), Chair of the House Energy Resources Committee, shared his commitment to advancing CCS as a tool for long-term economic strength and community prosperity.

From Representative Darby:

“Protecting the West Texas economy means staying ahead of the curve, and CCS is one way industry is doing just that. CCS drives new growth and stability in the energy sector, helping sustain our production legacy while remaining competitive and maintaining leadership in the global market. We encourage industry to continue leading the ‘energy evolution’ to stay competitive globally and keep our communities thriving.

The Alliance is grateful to our supporters for their continued commitment and look forward to welcoming new advocates across our expanded footprint throughout the rest of 2026.

From boil to basin: CCS explained, Gulf Coast style

In our latest blog post, we’re highlighting a Gulf Coast tradition to explore the importance of responsible carbon management. Anyone from the Gulf Coast knows there’s nothing that brings people together quite like a crawfish boil. The best boils can’t be rushed—it’s all about the ritual of preparation, the sorting, the seasoning, and the waiting that makes the result worth it. As it turns out, that same rhythm and attention to detail applies to CCS.

STEM education meets real-world energy solutions at Deer Park Chemistry Day

The Alliance was proud to participate in Deer Park Chemistry Day, engaging with the next generation of scientists and engineers about the real-world impact of CCS technology. Alliance representatives spoke to students about the critical role CCS plays in reducing emissions and improving air quality—all while keeping the industries of America’s Energy Coast thriving.

Southeast Texas takes center stage in the Alliance’s Gulf Coast tour

The Gulf Coast CCS Alliance engaged with community members and industry leaders at the Nederland Rotary Club and the Golden Triangle Industrial Group’s April meeting at the Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont, TX. The Alliance presented to the group on the enormous CCS potential in the Southeast Texas region as part of our tour across the Gulf Coast.

Exploring the future of energy in Baton Rouge

Recently, Baton Rouge played host to an important conversation about the road ahead for American energy. The Alliance joined the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) for a discussion on “The Future of Energy and How Consumers Win,” highlighting the critical role CCS technology will play in meeting rising energy demand affordably and reliably, reinforcing that responsible decarbonization and consumer interests go hand in hand.
