Gulf Coast CCS Alliance

Our mission is to reduce industrial CO2 emissions in the Gulf Coast Region, one of the nation’s largest concentrated sources of CO2, and make it the model for an emerging, lower-emissions world that supports jobs, economic growth, and prosperity.

The Gulf Coast CCS Alliance Members

The Gulf Coast CCS Alliance is a coordinated effort among some of the world's most innovative energy, petrochemical, and power generation companies to advance the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) from the greater Houston industrial area and along the Gulf Coast.

These companies have been a part of their Gulf Coast communities for decades, employing thousands, supporting families with good careers, and investing in the well-being of the local communities where they safely operate.

“As someone who has extensively studied carbon capture and storage (CCS), I can say with confidence that this technology is both proven and essential for Texas. For more than five decades, our state has been at the forefront of CCS research and application, giving us the knowledge and experience to scale it responsibly. Expanding CCS will allow us to protect public health, sustain good-paying jobs, and keep Texas industries competitive in a global market.

The safeguards in place are rigorous, ensuring protection for our water supply, families, and local businesses. With its industrial strength and skilled workforce, the Golden Triangle is uniquely positioned to demonstrate how CCS can deliver economic growth and improved quality of life side by side. Our region has the chance to be a global model for energy innovation, and we should seize that opportunity.”

Joe Tant
President/C.E.O, Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce

“Port Arthur could become a global hub for carbon capture and storage (CCS) development, providing good-paying jobs and economic stability for our community. Studies show that in Jefferson County alone CCS could create $1.3 billion in total economic impacts and creating upwards of 5,000 new jobs. With the support of the Houston CCS Alliance, the Greater Port Arthur Chamber has advocated strongly for building a business environment that will keep our region competitive and attractive for these critical investments. Our community sees the opportunity to lead in this new chapter of energy, where innovation, economic growth, and quality of life can advance together. “

Thomas Schoenbein
Mayor of Pasadena

“As we plan for Pasadena’s future, carbon capture and storage represents the kind of forward-thinking solution that aligns with our values: supporting industry, investing in long-term infrastructure, and protecting our community. Pasadena will continue to work alongside the Gulf Coast CCS Alliance and other regional leaders to ensure our residents stay informed and connected to the progress happening in our community.”

Dennis Paul
State Representative, Texas House District 129

“Texas has always been a powerhouse in energy production, and we must continue leading by example. As the global energy landscape evolves, it’s critical that we harness innovative technologies like carbon capture and storage to strengthen our energy dominance.CCS will help secure the future of Texas jobs, grow our economy, and ensure our energy industry remains the strongest in the world.”
